Resolutions for Wellness

Start the New Year off with a commitment to yourself. Sigma Wellness has some ideas to get you on track for a ‘New Year, New You’, and how to make your resolution come to life!

Be Positive and Specific

Saying “I want to be healthier this year” or “I want to lose weight” is a proclamation, not a resolution – it’s like making a wish. It’s also vague. How do you want to be healthier? What is the purpose of your resolution? Make your language positive, focused, and incorporate the reason why you are making your resolution.
Some examples:

Change your “I want to get healthier this year” into “I am (improving my flexibility and strength this year by starting Pilates so I have more energy)”.

Change your “I want to lose weight” into “I am losing 15 pounds to feel great for my family reunion in June.”

Create a Plan and Track the Progress

French Novelist Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote “A goal without a plan is just a wish”. No matter how great your resolution is, or how many times a day you are saying it to yourself, you have to make a plan for action. Jog three times a week, take the stairs instead of the escalator, whatever works for you! Put together your course of action and don’t forget to track what a great job you’re doing. You can journal your progress, track it with an app, or start a blog!
